DC locals will tell you that summer is one of the most exciting seasons of the city. The cool October temperatures and striking colors of the autumn leaves against the backdrop of monuments and memorials make for an unforgettable stroll through the nation's capital.  Sample some of the city's local flavors with the Taste of DC Festival or enjoy free concerts at the Kennedy Center's Open House.  Be sure to catch the National Symphony Orchestra when they play for the Labor Day Weekend Concert.  The pleasant and mild temperatures are a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Winter:

Don't let the cold winter weather keep you from exploring the city.  Take time to ice skate in the middle of the sculpture garden near the National Mall, or experience the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.  The ellipse in front of the White House is the site of many cherished Washington DC events, such as choral concerts, a nativity scene, live reindeer, a burning yule log and a lighted Christmas tree from each of the nation's states and territories. Come celebrate the holiday season in the nation's capital.
